iPad Mini Review: Is It The Best Small Tablet?

2
If you are a fan of Apple and you are in the market for a tablet of the smaller size then you will not want to look at anything other than the iPad Mini. You could of course compare it to the Kindle Fire or Google Nexus 7; however staunch iOS fans will not give these a second look. So is the iPad Mini really the best small tablet out there?

iPad Mini review

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD and the Google Nexus 7 come with a lower price tag of course. So it is justified to pay more for the iPad Mini despite its rivals offering equally (if not better) hardware?
The specs of the iPad Mini are meaningless as it is virtually the same as the iPad 2. It has the display resolution of 1024 x 768, which isn’t Retina, but it is good, and it comes with the A5 processor. Thanks to the fact that Apple have balanced the life of the battery in the real world against the cost and the price that people will pay, the iPad Mini is well executed.
There is no doubt that the iPad Mini is a great small tablet in the 7 inch range, with the only downside being that it is overpriced.
The Kindle Fire comes in the 7 inch category. However this is nothing more than an over featured e-reader. However it comes with a superb price tag of $199, but then it won’t offer you much more than reading and email.
The downside to the iPad Mini is that Apple makes it difficult if you want to buy books from Amazon. You do have to use the web browser for purchasing as there isn’t an Amazon of Kindle app.
The iPad Mini is great for reading, playing games, watching movies and more, in fact you can do everything that you would do with a full featured tablet. Basically the iPad Mini is a superb small tablet and it is hard to beat it. If you want the perfect companion to the iPhone 5 and Macbook, the iPad Mini is it. Even if you are not a huge Apple fan it is still a great device.
But just like how iOS fans will flock to the iPad Mini, Android fans will go in the other direction. Those who like Android may want to look at the Google Nexus 7 as you can get HSPA+ version of the device for $299 only. All round it is the best small Android tablet out there currently.
Moving on, so how about if you have a full size iPad? Would you sill need the iPad Mini? Well it does fit easily into an handbag, which makes it more portable and easier to carry around and the device is very light. But no, you don’t need both.
The bottom line is that the iPad Mini is a winner and while it might have been better had it had the retina display, it is superb for doing just about anything you want to do on a tablet. To close it off, it is important to note that while these are smaller screen tablets, they are still tablets and not phones. On this note, the iPad Mini has access to a wide range of high quality tablet-optimized apps. This can’t be said about its rivals as the Google Play Store is still lacking when it comes to tablet apps. So while the Google Nexus 7 may have the higher resolution display, the iPad Mini has a larger one and you can actually enjoy more apps optimized for that extra real estate.
